Crash

by Chelsea Donahue

It stayed tucked in the confines of her heart

A memory of the winter when she found herself

In collapsed words and broken promises.

She was going to be the girl to safe herself

From an implosion of feelings and tears

But she couldn’t find a future in the aftermath

Until he saw the spark in her eyes

And helped her light the flame

So she could burn bright in the midst of the storm.
